Our Mission

Since its inception in 2010, the Jean Griswold Foundation’s mission has been to provide grants to select nonprofit organizations to build, strengthen, and sustain programs that enhance the quality of life for low-income seniors and adults with disabilities who choose to age in place.

About Jean Griswold

Jean Griswold started her home care business at her dining room table in 1982 in suburban Philadelphia. When her husband told her that an elderly woman in their parish had died because she didn’t have help with daily activities, she was driven to act. What started as a volunteer overnight sitting service for people in her community became Griswold Home Care.

Jean was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1967 at the age of 36 and worked in her office until she was 79. She passed away on January 28th, 2017 at the age of 86. She was an inspirational woman and entrepreneur, and her values live on in Griswold Home Care and the Jean Griswold Foundation.
