Griswold Gives Emergency Relief During the Pandemic
We Are in This Together
When the COVID-19 crisis struck the United States, Jean Griswold Foundation’s Board of Directors sought a way to quickly respond to those who were impacted the most. They determined that agencies supporting food for low-income seniors would be their focus. They activated a special fund that began in 2019, Griswold Gives, and changed the grant program’s name to Griswold Gives ER at the start of April.
As of June 19, 2020, approximately 90% of our local community program grants have gone to local Meals on Wheels programs and food pantries. Griswold Home Care Directors were given the opportunity to choose a nonprofit to receive a grant. Several individual Griswold directors matched these $500 grants, making even more of an impact.
By the end of 2020, we will have given out $50,000 for food relief, positively affecting some of the poorest communities in the nation. Being one of a handful of private Home Care companies with its own 501 (c)(3), our response to the current crisis has been fast and impactful. For every dollar donated to our foundation, 88% goes to the causes we support, while the remainder helps us keep our foundation going.
Ensuring the Seniors in the Community are Supported
Unlike traditional grants, to be considered for a Griswold Gives grant, each Griswold Home Care Director may choose an organization in their area. To apply, you must be referred by a Griswold Home Care Director. Notification of an award will go out as soon as the grant is chosen.
